  • "As a Haida Gwaii School District member, I am dedicated to supporting inclusion and diversity, and modelling what I want to teach. I recall my first experience chaperoning to be just that, rich in culture, language, belonging, and stewarding. As I was new to the district as an Education Assistant, my heart grew that first year and has been growing ever since. I watched children participate in camp activities that have lifetime lasting effects and have heard from others of the multitude of enjoyment that they have experienced. To date I have returned two more times and wish to shout out to everyone that makes K̲’aayx̲ada Adventure Camp possible; from the amazing staff, the association, volunteers and the funding, I am forever grateful to you all. The children of Haida Gwaii are so special to me, so is K̲’aayx̲ada Adventure Camp. Haawa."

  • "I have been with the camp right from the beginning, as volunteer, counsellor and chaperone. All my kids loved the camp. After each camp they came back more confident, excited about their learning and stoked about many new friendships formed with kids from other parts of the islands. My kids are all grown up now, and have returned to the camp as counsellors themselves. K̲’aayx̲ada is growing our islands together. I’m glad to see the legacy continue and grow!"

  • "Over the years I have had the privilege of being involved with K̲’aayx̲ada Adventure Camp. This camp provides the unique ability for students of all ages to challenge themselves, grow to new heights, learn a survival skill, feel the earth between their toes, and most importantly connect with the natural beauty of Haida Gwaii. Mosquito lake and the surrounding area is a world class backdrop for the wonderful activities that promote outdoor pursuits and exploration. We are so fortunate to have such a magical program such as K̲’aayx̲ada Adventure camp in our own backyard."
